Swingin’ On A Star - A WWII Ballroom Fantasy

Alumni Players! and American Legion Post 199 are joining forces to celebrate Edwardsville’s WWII history. And what a show it’s going to be!

Join us on Thursday, June 5th and Friday June 6th as we kick off the Route 66 Festival with a musical tribute to those men and women of Edwardsville who bravely and faithfully served our country at home and abroad during WWII.

“Swingin’ On a Star” will transport you back to Edwardsville’s very own Bohm Ballroom, circa 1944, to experience an evening of real-life stories lifted right off the front pages of the The Intelligencer, along with a Hit Parade of America’s favorite swing tunes performed for your dancing and listening pleasure.

The evening begins at 6:30 PM with an amazing display of vintage WWII Military Vehicles on view on the grounds of the American Legion Post, so come early and re-visit a part of American’s military history.

At 7:00 the doors will open for drinks and dance lessons before the show. Then at 8:00, the lights dim, and you will become the studio audience as our troupe of Edwardsville’s finest singers, actors and musicians “broadcast” the performance “across the airwaves and to all the ships at sea” on Station WEDW: 66 On Your Radio Dial.

Don’t miss out on this memorable musical event to honor our WWII Veterans and support American Legion Post 199.
